justice: is it for all?

the rival between two political parties not only affected what was suppose to be only of their own communal goal differences but unfortunately have also affected the lives of many living in the region, the country, and the whole world even.

since monday, i have been reading the news about the convoy ambush that brutally happened in southern philippines - from where i live nearby. it has already been concluded that the massacre has to do with politics. above all of what the media has reported, only one question comes to my mind: will the families of the victims be able to seek justice?

i myself can't help but feel angry and furious towards people i don't even know and haven't even seen. the slaughters should pay for what they did. an eye for an eye; a tooth for a tooth. they should suffer as how those innocent lives suffered. they should be stoned to death. they should be hanged. those ruthless bastards should not be given a space for mercy - this is me cursing.

for what its worth, i feel the grief of the victims' families and those who grieved for justice, and am expressing my condolence to them. today, a lot of opinions & speculations surround the people in the country whether the government would fulfill its promise to administer justice. the current president of the republic is known to be allied with the prime suspect of the massacre after its clan helped delivering crucial votes in the past elections. anyone would possibly think that justice, in this case, will be biased. i just pray that it wouldn't.

all filipinos, poor or rich, weak or mighty, are privileged with the same right to truth and justice under the constitution. no one should be treated better than the other - be it from the ruling body or from the citizens of the country. let this be a reminder especially, but not only, to our governing bodies: if in unjust a person made fault, then in just he must dealt with.

"at the vanguard of progress in this part of the world i stand - a forlorn figure in the eyes of some, but not one defeated and lost. for through the thick, interlacing branches of habit and custom above me i have seen the light of the sun, and i know that it is good. i have seen the light of justice and equality and freedom and my heart has been lifted by the vision of democracy, and i shall not rest until my land and my people shall have been blessed by these, beyond the power of any man or nation to subvert or destroy." - carlos p. romulo, i am a filipino
